Application Information 

Out-of-district students are entitled to attend six (6) pathways that lead to college credit and/or industry certification.
1) Engineering (includes a competitive Robotics Team) 
2) Agriculture and Natural Resources Academy
3) Music and Performing Arts
4) Materials and Manufacturing 
5) Biomedical Science
6) Computer Science and Information Technology (includes projects on Gaming)


Tuition and Transportation:

 

There is no tuition cost to the individual family for an eligible student to attend Ponaganset Academy programs. In accordance with RI General Law,transportation to these programs will be provided by the sending districts in the Region 2 Transportation Zone (Foster, Glocester, Scituate, Coventry, Warwick, West Warwick, East Greenwich). 
Students residing in other communities are entitled to attend the Ponaganset High School Academies for a Digital Society; however, they must provide their own transportation. 


Application Materials:

A paper application form is located at the bottom of the page. They may also be may be obtained from the Ponaganset High School Guidance Department.

Paper applications may be submitted directly to the Ponaganset High School guidance department or through the guidance department at any sending high school. Application Process - Taking the First Steps: 

1. Students should contact Ponganset High School Guidance Department at 401-710-7579 or email us at [email protected] to discuss the College and Career Pathway opportunities available to them.

2. Students should attend the Ponaganset High School Open House, Informational Session, and Tour or attend an orientation session conducted at their home school. Students who successfully complete a coursework in related areas shall be given due consideration for available openings.

3. Students and parents who are unable to attend our Open House should sign up for one of the tours of our pathway programs throughout the year. For further information, call or visit the Ponaganset High School Guidance Department.


Admissions Timeline:

 

The timeline may be adjusted by the Foster-Glocester Superintendent of Schools if it is in the best interest of students or the district.

July - March

Students in each district, with an emphasis on Region 2, will have the opportunity to participate in orientation sessions. Pertinent information related to the Ponaganset Pathways will be distributed through the guidance department.

September – April

Ponaganset High School will advertise the pathway programs, provide print and electronic information, conduct an Open House for interested students and their parents, and schedule tour(s) of the facilities.

February – March - Early Enrollment

Applications are due to the Ponaganset High School guidance department by March 31st for early enrollment. Local high schools should receive applications by January to allow for processing. Students who apply by the Early Enrollment timelines listed above will be notified of early acceptance by April 10th

April 1st – Through the School Year - Open Enrollment

Applications will continue to be accepted from all Rhode Island districts. During the Open Enrollment Period qualified applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first served basis when space is available. A waiting list will be established where space is not available.

Students who apply during the Open Enrollment timelines listed above will benotified of preliminary acceptance within two weeks of application. 


Early Acceptance

For early acceptance, application forms must be submitted by March 31st.  

Applications will be accepted throughout the school year. After March 31st, seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis to qualified students from out-of-district.


Over-Enrolled and Under Enrolled Programs:

In cases where the number of qualified out-of-district applicants exceeds available space a lottery will be held to select among those students who meet the entrance criteria. The general admission criteria may be relaxed or the specific criteria may be relaxed in a specific program if there are unfilled seats in the program and the high school provides appropriate support in literacy and mathematics consistent with the student’s personalized literacy plan. In cases where the number of students whose scores are below the general admission criteria exceeds the space available, a lottery shall be used to select from among those interested students who have completed the application process as outlined above. A program waiting list will be established for those students not selected.


Admissions and Program Continuation Criteria:

 

Students should be entering into grades nine, ten, or eleven to apply for enrollment in one or more of Ponaganset High School's Pathways.
