What pathways may I apply to attend at Ponaganset High School?

There are six pathways at Ponaganset that eligible students from other districts may attend: 1) Engineering (includes Robotics and a competitive Robotics Team), 2) Agricultural and Natural Resources Academy, 3) Music and Performing Arts (includes Music Technology), 4) Materials and Manufacturing, 5) Biomedical Science, and 6) Computer Science and Information Technology (includes assignments and projects on Gaming).

Once I choose to enroll in a specific Pathway, am I required to remain in that Pathway for the duration of my time at Ponaganset?

Pathways are designed for three years of instruction and hands-on learning. They are offered in a three-year sequence so students have the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to earn college credit and/or industry certifications. However, pathways are flexible, and students may choose to leave a pathway.

Is transportation provided to out-of-district students?

I live outside of the Foster-Glocester School District. Must I notify the school district in the community where I live that my child may attend Ponaganset High School?

You do need to notify the district of residence if you decide to submit a formal application to attend our school district. This is necessary because the district where you live will be covering the costs of tuition if you are eligible to attend and need to properly budget. Please note that, under current regulation, the district of residence may not prohibit you from attending a pathway in our school district unless there is a comparable RIDE approved program offered by your home district in which you can enroll.

You do not need to notify the school district where you live to obtain information about our pathways, attend an open house, take a tour of our campus or explore the possibility of attending our school district.

When is drop-off and pick-up?

Students can be dropped off any time after 7:30 a.m. The first class begins at 7:48 a.m. Dismissal is at 2:15 p.m. For more information on drop-off and pick-up, please see the student handbook.

How would you describe the culture at Ponaganset?

Our Ponaganset Pride is evident from the moment you step on campus. From students sporting their Ponaganset green, to an overwhelming dedication to and involvement in the school community, Ponaganset features a comfortable learning environment that enables students to explore and cultivate their passions. As a result, students are better prepared to succeed at fulfilling their future endeavors.

What is a typical class size for grades 9-12? What is the student-to-faculty ratio?

The to student-to-faculty ratio is 11:1. The typical class size, depending on program of study and student interest, ranges from 16 - 22 students per class.

I am attending private school and/or I am being home schooled. Do I need to notify the school district in the community that I live that my child will attend Ponaganset High School?

In order for your child to be accepted into one of our pathway programs you will need to contact the district where you live, prove residency, and enroll your child in the district. They will then enter your child in their student information system as an out-of-district placement. This is necessary because they will be covering the costs of tuition and need to record your child as a student in their district in order to receive funds from the State of RI.

You do not need to notify the school district where you reside to obtain information about our pathways, attend an open house, take a tour of our campus or explore the possibility of attending our school district.
